Calculate the SSS maternity benefit — the 105-Day Expanded Maternity Leave Law: 105 days at 100% of your average daily salary credit (+15 solo-parent days; 60 for miscarriage), funded by SSS with the employer paying the salary differential.
Quick answer: The benefit: average MSC of the 12 months before the semester of contingency ÷ 180 × 105 days. At the 2026 MSC ceiling (₱35,000): 35,000 × 6 ÷ 180 × 105 = ₱122,500. Employers must top up the gap to full salary (the salary differential) unless exempt; 7 days transferable to the father.
The Computation
Daily benefit = (sum of the 6 highest MSCs in the 12 months before the semester of contingency) ÷ 180; total = daily × 105/120/60. Qualifying: 3+ monthly contributions in that 12-month window + MAT-1 notification. The benefit covers EVERY pregnancy (the old 4-delivery cap is gone) and all female workers — employed, self-employed, voluntary, OFW, and informal sector.
Worked Examples
Example 1 — ceiling earner. ₱35,000 MSC: daily 1,166.67 × 105 = ₱122,500 from SSS.
Example 2 — the differential. Actual salary ₱45,000: full-pay value for 3.5 months ≈ ₱157,500 → employer pays the ₱35,000 salary differential (exemptions: distressed firms, micro-enterprises, those already granting equal/better benefits).
Example 3 — allocation. Up to 7 days transfer to the father (or an alternate caregiver) — ON TOP of his own 7-day paternity leave: 14 paid father-days total.
Process
Notify the employer/SSS (MAT-1) on pregnancy confirmation; benefits advance through the employer (reimbursed by SSS) for employed members; self-employed/voluntary claim directly. Post-birth filing windows run long (10 years) but the notification requirement bites — file MAT-1 early.
Stacking
PhilHealth pays the DELIVERY case rates separately (normal/caesarean packages); the SSS benefit is income replacement — claim both. The leave is one continuous block (prenatal/postnatal split allowed within rules), employment-protected, and usable in ANY civil status or employment arrangement. Rates: the MSC ceiling moved to ₱35,000 with the 2025 SSS schedule — verify current.
Frequently Asked Questions
How much is the SSS maternity benefit?

Who qualifies?
Any female SSS member with 3+ contributions in the 12 months before the semester of contingency, with MAT-1 notification — every pregnancy, no delivery cap.
What is the salary differential?
Employers must pay the gap between the SSS benefit and full salary for the leave period — unless exempt (distressed/micro enterprises or better existing schemes).
Can leave days transfer to the father?
Up to 7 of the 105 days — on top of his separate 7-day paternity leave under RA 8187.
