How the Countdown Works
Business Days Until = Weekdays from Tomorrow to the Target − Public Holidays
The count starts tomorrow (today is already underway) and, by default, stops the day before your target — matching how deadlines actually feel: "how many working days do I have left to finish?" Toggle the option to include the target date itself for delivery-style counts ("arrives within N business days").
Worked Examples
Example 1 — project deadline. Today is Monday July 27, 2026; deadline Friday August 28: 32 calendar days containing 9 weekend days = 23 business days to deliver.
Example 2 — holiday in the range. Counting to mid-September crosses Labor Day (Sep 7, 2026). With "US federal holidays" selected, the calculator drops it automatically — 5-day-a-week math would overcount by one.
Example 3 — "within 5 business days" delivery. An order shipped Thursday with 5-business-day delivery arrives the following Thursday — the two weekend days don't count. Enter next Thursday as the target with "include target" on: 5 business days confirms it.

Countdown Conventions: Which Day Counts?
Three common readings of "N business days until X", and who uses each:
- Days remaining before the date (our default): project management and deadline planning — "how much working time do I have?"
- Including the target day: logistics and SLAs — "delivered within 5 business days" typically counts the delivery day.

Planning Backwards From the Count
The countdown's real use is capacity math: 23 business days to a launch at 6 productive hours/day is ~138 working hours — is the remaining work smaller than that?
